Today was all about preparing for the showing tomorrow. Jewel and Maggie worked on hip hop during all the breaks and were very helpful in keeping the group focused and motivated. Nikole continued to crush the Lady Gaga. I would tell you to look for her in the final number, but you won’t be able to miss her, even in the back row. We put some very strong performers in the back of the group because we knew their energy would shine through from anywhere, and it helps support the whole number.
We were all surprised and sorry to see that Racheal, Maya and Lydia opted out of performing the hip hop piece. They looked amazing in rehearsal. Thought I should let you know, since you probably won’t see them out there. They’re concentrating their efforts elsewhere. Heavenly and Helena, however, have taken their freestyle in thehip hop number to a whole new level. I thought Ahna might be hamstrung in the freestyle after Adam slapped the one cartwheel limit on that section, but she rose the challenge. She brought the funk and the rhythm. Angelo now has some real competition in that areana. Jonah took time during hip hop rehearsal to work on the parts of the shim sham that he missed the first day. Now he’s looking solid.
For this first time this week, I got to dance as a follow in rueda, as we were missing DeJie and Anaya. I finally got a chance to dance with the leaders. Sarah is an excellent leader in rueda. Despite the size disadvantage, she lead me in time and with confidence…and style. :)
